It's dreary and cold in the UK right now and we're all ready to book our next holiday in the sun, but if you want to jet off right now where should you go? Here's the lowdown on where we would rather be right now on a last minute Winter sun trip...
Cape Verde
One of the more up-and-coming destinations that needs to be on your winter sun hit-list is Cape Verde. This small collection of islands off the west coast of Africa has been nicknamed the African Caribbean and with average temperatures of 24 degrees in January it's a great getaway for some winter sun. If you just want to relax there are plenty of golden sandy beaches to find a spot, or if action and adventure is more your thing then why not try out the range of water sports or head out on a boat trip to spot some turtles.
St Lucia
For a slighter hotter option, St Lucia is a great choice. Situated in the Caribbean, this lush and beautiful island is home to amazing scenery, incredible beaches and temperatures of around 27 in February. Perfect for honeymooners and families alike.
Lanzarote
If you're just after some sunshine but not too fussed about sunbathing, Lanzarote is a lovely option for this time of year. Temperatures are around 21 degrees so it's the ideal time to do some sightseeing. Maybe try a camel trip around the volcanic landscape or hire a car and visit the various resorts around the island, there's plenty to see and do for a wonderful week's holiday.
Thailand
If you're looking for something a little further afield why not consider Thailand. In January and February temperatures are around 28 degrees and it has the lowest level of rainfall on average compared to any other month. With around 2000 miles of tropical coastline this is the ultimate destination for beach lovers. Or for a little more excitement there's great activities too including nightlife, elephant trips, jungle treks and so much more.
Florida
Fancy Walt Disney world but don't want to stand in a hot queue for hours? Then the winter months are the perfect time to book with cooler temperatures of around 22 degrees. And its not all about Disney World, there are plenty of other beautiful spots to take in a few rays around the sunshine state like Miami or Clearwater.
