Now we’re coming into the Autumn months here in the UK, tans are fading and catching some rays for a little summer glow is getting difficult unless you are off on a late summer getaway or winter sun holiday. Many of us want to ensure that we hold onto our natural tans for as long as possible, so here are a few tips to help you prolong your sun-kissed skin look…
Do Some Prep Work
Before you sunbathe, make sure you have exfoliated and moisturised your skin, dry skin will lose a tan much quicker so get rid of those dead skin cells early on.
Up The SPF Factor
When you are in the sun make sure you use a high SPF sun cream (30 or higher), while it will take you longer to tan, it'll give you a much deeper and longer-lasting tan.
Cool It Down
Now you have the tan, you need to keep hold of it! Start off by not having showers or baths that are too hot as this can dehydrate your skin and result in faster peeling.
Add In Some Moisture
Slather on the body cream! Make sure you moisturise your skin daily in order to keep it soft and prevent your tan from peeling.
Hydrate Yourself
Also hydrate your skin by drinking lots of water; moisturising on the outside isn’t enough to keep you from being dehydrated so try to drink around 2 litres of water each day.
Top It Up
Start using gradual tan. This is the perfect product to use towards the end of the summer as it can add a little bit of glow to top up your tan every couple of days.
Get That Glow
Use shimmery or body oil type products. Any added shimmer or sheen highlights your limbs and can give the effect of a slight glow to enhance your tan.
Always remember to use caution when in the sun. Use SPF sun cream, reapplying throughout the day, avoid being in the sun between 11am and 3pm when the sun is at its hottest and drink water to stop yourself from being dehydrated.
